My dog ate poop from fur. Dangerous? How to clean her mouth, no brush?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Japanese Spitz | Female | spayed | 4 years and 1 month old | 11 lbs

Poop got stuck on my dog’s fur and my dog ate it to remove it, she is in a heat so she licks down a lot. Is it dangerous for her to lick down with dirty mouth and how to clean her mouth without a toothbrush

No, it is not dangerous. Dogs lick that area all the time. You can use a human toothbrush to brush her teeth. You must use a fluoride free toothpaste. There are many YouTube videos available on how to brush a dog's teeth if you need instruction. Really that is the only way to clean their mouth.
