My cat had blood in his stool a few days ago and now his anus is leaking blood around my house. I adopted him 3 mk months ago and his poop has always been loose and very smelly. Stool was negative for parasites

Hello. Your cat may need to receive some additional medications to help clear up his stool. The constant irritation from the diarrhea is probably causing inflammation in the colon & this results in the blood. You could start by placing him on a probiotic like Purina's feline FortiFlora, or pick up a tube of Nutramax's Proviable KP. I would also recommend placing him on an antibiotic like metronidazole & perhaps talking to your vet about sending some of his stool out for analysis. This is generally known as a diarrhea panel. 3 months is a long time to have diarrhea. Hopefully, you can get the condition resolved with one of my recommendations. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor kitties! Yes, unfortunately your cats need to be seen by a Vet. With diarrhea that severe, just leaking out of them, there isn't much we can do for you here besides provide advice. The blood is from inflammation with in the colon. The blood usually indicated the need for antibiotics. You can try a probiotic and a bland diet for a few days. I like Purina Fortiflora. Causes of diarrhea are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, food allergy or intolerance, dietary indiscretion, toxin ingestion, inflammatory bowel disease and many other causes. A lot of local SPCAs have low cost Veterinary clinics. You can call ones in your area and see what they offer. I hope this helps and I wish your babies the best!
