My mouse has a lump overnight. What to do if I can't afford a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Mouse | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 0.108 lbs

my mouse has grown a lump over night it is about 1/4 inch across i check them once a week for lumps etc. and she didn't have any a few days ago. she sleeps a bit more than normal but other than that she is still doing her normal routine. i can't afford to take her to a vet cause i just had to put down my cat so i can't afford this and i am worried cause it feels similar to the tumor my friends hamster had.

Thanks for reaching out about Yuki and including photos. Lumps such as this can be abscesses or tumors. Each requires a veterinary visit to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Unfortunately there is little that can be done from home. Monitor her for appetite and activity. Sometimes, local rescue groups with assist with veterinary but you would have to contact them. Good luck.
