My 15-year-old cat stopped eating with nasal discharge and breathing issues?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 14 years and 7 months old

My cat is 15 years old and has always seemed healthy, until a few days ago. He's stopped eating, has red/brown stuff coming out his nose, sounds stuffed, and makes noises when breathing.

This is pretty serious, and it's a medical emergency when a cat stops eating. This is because if a cat goes long enough without eating, they develop a fatty liver. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment. Please take Chex into a vet now.
