My goat is weak, has stomach pain, and can't stand. What's happening?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

10 mths old goat since 2 weeks has progressing weakness, from init. getting slow, to having trouble getting up, to now hardly being able to stand for longer than a few minutes. Stomach cramps, especially at night, since a few days, pumping belly at urinating and defecation. When lying down in pain, the head bends over the body, moaning. When lifted to his feet the pain subsides & he begins to eat with appetite. 2 younger kids died last month with same symptoms. Treatmt f. parasites effectless.

Sounds like either enterotoxemia (Clostridium spp) or parasites like tapeworms. What parasites did you treat for? Tapeworms need a special deworming medication as they are not killed with a general dewormer. Are you vaccinating against Clostridial diseases? If you have a local vet, I suggest you consult with them.
