Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Male | unneutered
I have a 12 week old cocker spaniel it’s our 3rd night with him and he is non stop howling in his crate I’ve been told by the breeder to leave him cry it out. It’s distressing to listen to. He’s had 2 walks been fed has water in his crate he takes himself in there during the day to nap but when I leave the room for bed he gets really loud.

Hi there. I would NOT recommend leaving him to just "cry it out," as this is not humane for a baby who is away from his mom and littermates for the first time in his life, and may predispose him to be anxious in the crate as an adult. Instead, put the crate in your bedroom, right beside your bed so he can hear you and smell you during the night. If he still panics, try using a doggie playpen (often called an "exercise pen") to contain him beside your bed, instead of the crate.
