My parvo puppy is on sub-Q fluids. How much water does she need?

Pet's info: Dog | Perro de Presa Canario | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 25 days old | 55 lbs

Hello my name is Amber and my 6 month old presa canario was diagnosed with parvo 2 days ago today is day number 5 of symptoms starting I hope I caught it early enough on day 3 but my question is I have been administering her sub Q Iv and also the anti nausea she has had 3 diarreahs in 5 days no vomiting in 48hrs my question is how much water should i be giving her along with sub q fluids btw she is 55lbs she ate boiled chicken today on her own and drank on her own a little bit. Thank you

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. So sorry to hear that Nova has parvo but it sounds like you are doing a good job treating her. Just have water available for her to drink if she wants it. She may not be interested in drinking because you are giving the SQ fluids. The biggest thing that seems to help recovery in parvo cases is to get them eating as soon as possible. So, if you can try feeding her some canned puppy food that would be best. The chicken is OK but it does not have all the nutrients and vitamins needed to help her recover quickly. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
