Baby squirrel losing weight, constipated. What should I feed it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Squirrel | Male

I have a squirrel of about 5 weeks his upper front teeth has started to grow. We are only feeding him diluted cows milk 5 times a day. I think that he is losing weight and having problem with passing excreted waste. Please suggest some thing and diet to follow.

He is having issues because you are not feeding him the appropriate diet. Drinking cow's milk is not advised. Puppy milk replacer is best. Please refer to this article on caring for an orphaned squirrel. Way down on the page there is a whole section on feeding. If at all possible, it would be best to take him to a wildlife rehab center or vet clinic for them to care for him. ( https://www.whatdosquirrelseat.org/baby-squirrel/ )
