My cat is spotting after neuter. Should I worry? How to comfort him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | 7 months and 22 days old | 2 lbs

My cat just got neutered yesterday and he seems to be doing really well. Unfortunately, I had to return to work so I’m not able to stay at home with him. Hes spotting a little bit from his incisions (they just glued the skin), should I be worried about this? Also, is there anything I can do to make him comfortable while I’m away at work. I’ve kept him in my full bathroom and he’s anxiously ready to get out and play.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Zeno. It sound like you are doing everything right. It is best to keep him very quiet for the first 24-48 hours after surgery. Too much activity can lead to swelling at the surgery site. A small amount of oozing can be normal. If it continues or gets worse, then you need to alert your veterinarian. Give him lots of love and attention when you are home from work. I hope this information helps!
