My guinea pig has flaky skin & fur loss. Is it ringworm? Vet or home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Female | unspayed

I just found out my son has a ring worm and my guinea pig has a patch of fur missing on her nose. It is flaky and kind of crusty. It seems like she has one as well. Do I need to take her to the vet or can I treat her at home?

You need to take Sara into a vet to have this treated. Have your son seen by a doctor. You will also need to disinfect your home, as ringworm spores can live up to 18 months in the environment. Check out this link below on how to do it: http://www.livestrong.com/article/49666-rid-home-ringworm/
