My dog has a lump by his dew claw, is it serious or something to worry about? Does anyone know what is is?

Hello. In all honesty, all lumps & bumps should be investigated. I can not say with any certainty whether this is a benign or malignant tumor, a cyst or an infection. It really needs a hands on examination, possibly with a small biopsy called a fine needle aspirate, to determine its make-up. If this does need to be removed, the best time to do so is while it is relatively small. I do recommend having this looked at soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

    This lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Pixie to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

My dog has a mass near his dew claw. Seems to be painful and however, I do have it wrapped. I have been cleaning it regularly with peroxide and putting antibacterial cream on it. What can I do for him? Help :-(

my 10 year old boxer has a large red lump on the top of his right back paw. It is between the toes back away from his nails. You can touch it and he does not show signs of pain but it looks like it would hurt. What could it be?

My dog has a lump on the side of his paw pad - very round but seems to have gotten bigger recently and deeper? He's had it around 6 months but as he's people reactive the vet has never been able to examine it properly even muzzled and said it should

Hi, and thanks for your question. This lump/bump/growth should be ideally examined by your local vet to have a diagnosis established. Your vet may want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature. Differentials would include skin cysts, infections, benign or more malignant type of tumors. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This looks like a nodule or mass. This could be a benign growth or even an abcess or a malignant growth. I recommend you have Billy evaluated by your veterinarian for a test called fine needle aspirate which is an easy, quick and pain-free procedure which in the majority of cases will help reach a diagnosis to identify what the best course of action is based on the findings. In some cases, a biopsy is needed for a diagnosis. Treatment will be recommended based on the findings. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed that it is something benign.

I would recommend taking Kona into the vet to have the lump evaluated. There is no way to diagnose it from the picture, it could be just a benign skin tag but it could also potentially be a malignant tumor. The vet may be able to do a needle aspirate to look at some cells to get a better idea of what type of growth it is. And then help you decide if biopsy or removal is how you want to proceed. Even if benign, if she routinely knocks it on things causing it to bleed it may be worth having it removed to prevent further trauma or infection. I hope this helps thank you for using Boop by Petco.

My dog had a cracked nail and he was licking it frequently. He did not really let us touch his paw but over time this large bump formed behind the nail. He doesn’t cry or limp he just locks it all the time. Any idea what this could be?

There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. my dog has a swollen bump on his paw between the pads...it is leaking fluid now...he is eating and does not limp when he walks...he is 14...in 1 month it has doubled in size
Thank you for using Boop by Petco! It is definitely concerning that the lump has increased in size so quickly, as older dogs are typically more likely to develop cancers. The lump can also be an infection or cyst. I recommend having this seen by a vet as soon as possible - they can take a small sample from the growth to determine exactly what it is and recommend the appropriate treatment. I hope all is well!
