Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 45 lbs

Dear Dr, 2 days back noticed my dog having 2 drops of blood in her urine. Its not mix with the urine, just on its own but comes out when she urinated. At the same time she was struggling to force urine and nothing was coming out besides a few drops of pee. The next morning morning she is back to normal and till today she is fine. I dont notice anymore blood in her urine. could that be due to she hold on to her urine for long hours as she only does it whenever goes for walk only and it was raining

Hi. It is most likely isn't from holding urine in. This.sounds more like either a UTI, cystitis, or possibly even bladder stones. All of which can be irritating. I would call your veterinarian in the morning for an appointment

She could have a urinary tract infection so she should be examined by a vet for treatment. If she is having difficulty urinating than she could have stones,as well. Your vet can run a urinalysis and take x-rays, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to help treat.

Hi Kevin! I understand being concerned about Michell, I am as well. This urinating blood could be due to a UTI, bladder stones, trauma to the bladder, bladder tumors, getting into a toxic like rat poison, or leptospirosis. She needs to see a vet now, please take her into one immediately.
