Dog spay recovery: Flea treatment with clothes & incision check?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 14 lbs

My dog was recently spayed and I have been keeping her in a baby onesie. I want to give her a flea treatment. Can I put the treatment on and put her clothes on immediately after? Also I am attaching a photo of her incision 9 days out. Does it look like it should at this point? I appreciate the help and care. Thank you so very much.

You will need to wait a couple hours so that the fabric does not absorb the topical treatment. This could lead to under dosing her. The incision looks good. There is no redness, swelling or discharge and it looks closed. The bit of "crust" around the edges can be gently removed with a pet wipe or a plain, unscented baby wipe.
