Why are my dog's breasts still hard and not shrinking after puppies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 2 years and 5 months old

My female Labrador Retriever gave birth 10 months ago, and her breasts closest to her private area have a hard tissue to them still and they haven’t shrunken up like i thought they should have. Could something be wrong with them?

Yes, there could be something wrong although i see she is now spayed and this should reduce the chance of mammary gland tumors dramatically. it would be best to get it checked by your vet, this is something that will require a physical exam.
