My 19-year-old cat is wobbling and dragging her leg. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Oriental Shorthair | Female | spayed | 19 years and 8 months old | 60 lbs

Recently, my cat started wobbling on her leg, sometimes she drags her leg, I can see her shaking on her leg. But she can go up and down anywhere fine. Could it be something to worry about? Since she is 19. Should I take her to the vets?

Yes, you need to take Katie to the veterinarian. Weakness in the hind limbs can indicate many things ranging from hyperthyroidism to a spinal issue. A physical exam, blood work and potentially x-rays are needed for the correct diagnosis and treatment. Certain conditions, if caught early, are highly treatable. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
