Is avocado safe for cats? Can it really make my cat's coat healthy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Longhair | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 15 days old

I've been told that it is okay to feed cats small amounts of avocado and that it will benefit their coat, which works better than supplements and is healthier for them. I don't really believe that, but is it true? If so, should I add avocado to my cat's diet to keep her coat healthy?

Hello, I would not recommend feeding your cat avocado. A formulated diet made for cats that meets AAFCO standards should meet all of her nutritional needs without any supplements. Here is more information on what goes into a healthy diet: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=8808771 I hope this helps. Thanks for using PetCoach.
