Why is my cat suddenly lethargic, sensitive, and hissing when touched?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 8 lbs

Ginger came home very lethargic and moving very slowly encrypt into the clothes basket and stayed all night and she's been acting very sensitive since 2 days ago. She hisses and growls when you pet her and that is very unusual for this energetic two year old. Her last rabies vaccination was January of last year

I suspect Ginger may have been injured when she was outside. It sounds like she is in pain, and unfortunately there are no pain medication you can give her. Many human ones are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. Please take her into a vet immediately.
