Is brown discharge normal for a dog 8 days after having puppies?

Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Female | unspayed | 7 years old | 20 lbs

Hey can you help me is it normal that a female dog that had puppies have a brownish bloody discharge 8 days after she had puppies. Here is quite hot and I do give her milk and food. How long does it last after she had puppies.

As I said before, the discharge may be normal. It is called lochia. Please refer to this article for more information. ( https://whelpingpuppies.com/how-long-a-dog-bleeds-after-giving-birth/ ) I only mentioned taking her to a vet because you stated she delivered a dead puppy 12 hours after the first two. If you are saying she is hot then she may have a fever. If you don't want to take her to a vet that is up to you. I can't tell you anymore than this without examining the dog myself. Feeding milk to a nursing dog is not recommended. Dogs at her age do not need milk and it is not going to do anything to boost the milk she gives the puppies. If she is eating a good dog food you don't need to give anything else.
