My vet gave me cat flea treatment for my Chihuahua. Is it safe?

Hi I went to my local vets earlier to get some flea treatment for my Chihuahua when I got home and checked the instructions they have given me cat flea treatment what could of happened if I had used it

Usually cat flea treatments are not harmful to dogs. Dog flea treatments are, however, harmful to cats in most cases. Often cat products are used for small dogs because of their size. It depends on the product. Since I don't know which product you used it is difficult for me to say much more than that. If you would like to post again with the name of the product you applied we can maybe help you better.
