Why is my senior dog's sore black, foul-smelling, and losing hair?

My dog is 11 years old and has a sore that was draining, there is hair loss around it and now it is black and crusty has a foul smell-what do you think it is? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 100 lbs

Any lumps/bumps/sores that you notice on your dog should be checked out by your vet. They are usually one of three things: * abscess (infection) * cyst * cancer There is no way I can tell you what it is via the internet especially without examining her myself. At her age I would be very worried about a tumor.
