My kitten has bloody diarrhea. Could it be Giardia from her sibling?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 5 months and 20 days old | 4 lbs

I adopted two kittens 3 weeks ago. One is at the end of being treated for Giardia with Metronidazole liquid 100 mg and I will be taking her back to the vet. The other was being treated for an eye discharge. Today she was running around and dashe for the litter box and has been having liquid stools and I just found in one a little blood. Could she now have the Giardia. She had tested negative for it but both kittens use the same littler box and the other two in the house. I have 2 adult cats.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ziva. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. She will need to have her stool tested as she could have giardia or another type of infection. Based on these results medications can be prescribed. I hope this information helps!
