Why does my puppy twitch in her sleep? Is it normal or a seizure?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 6 days old

My 36 day old puppy is having involuntary movement while sleeping. I just got her and she’s been on the road for 4 hours. She was active and then she went to sleep . Now she is having occasional involuntary twitching movements of the body . She is arousable but very sleepy.Could it be seizures

Hi there. What you're describing sounds like normal dreaming - it's completely normal for puppies to twitch and move a little when they're sleeping. If you can wake her up by touching her, it's not a seizure. :) But if you're concerned, you can always take a video of her doing it, and show it to your veterinarian to make sure it looks normal.
