How soon after neutering can my male cat be with an unspayed female?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 9.3 lbs

Mojo was just neutered on Tuesday and that's also when we got him from a family member, we already have a female cat that is not spayed and we have been keeping them separate. Now that he is neutered does he still have a chance of impregnating her? Can we stop keeping them seperated?

Hello. There is a very small chance that Mojo could still have some residual sperm in his accessory sex glands. I would keep them apart just for another week & then you can keep them together. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
