That spot on Buddy could be several things including allergies, skin mites, ringworm (which humans can get) or a bacterial infection. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesion with soap once a day and rinse well (don't wash his whole body, just the spot). Protect the area from licking or scratching. If it doesn't start looking better within about a week or if they get worse, have him examined by the veterinarian who may prescribe medications. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This looks like a focal infection. You can try to use chlorhexidine containing pads (such as the Douxo chlorhexidine 3% PS pads) to clean the are twice daily for 7 days. You may find these online or at your local pet store. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may be temporary due to mild trauma and may go away on its own. I would not be too concerned about this for now. If this persists for longer than 1 week, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Otherwise, this may resolve on its own. Best of luck!

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. This could be an age related skin color change or this could be due to allergies. It may also be indicative of a hormonal condition such as Cushing's disease or hypothyroidism. I would recommend starting the below products, which can be found online quite easily. If there is no improvement or the skin worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at Berkley and test his blood. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further. 1. Douxo PS Calm shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved 2. Douxo PS mousse and apply once daily 3. Essential 6 spot on by dermoscent 4. Malacetic conditioning spray and apply to affected area once daily
