Dog swollen, bumpy, diarrhea after vet. Allergic reaction? Emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 60 lbs

Went to our vet today and she is checking his blood work for sensitive pancreas all they did was take blood no other procedures or medication temp was 102F. 3 hours after his visit his face is swollen and he has bumps all over him and reddish brown completely liquid stool. Should we take him to Emergency Vet or could this be some sort of allergic reactions to something? Can we give him Benadryl and wait til tomorrow morning to get him seen again. Please Advise!

102 is considered a normal temperature in dogs, however if Jaxon is having swelling of the face or neck, or is having new symptoms such as the diarrhea, I would bring him back into your vet or ER clinic. Benedryl can be given for allergic reactions, however without knowing if any medication was given to him at his vet visit or what is causing the reaction, it would be best to seek veterinary care, especially if it's come on rapidly.
