Why are my dog's back legs suddenly weak, unstable, and he can't jump?

My dog has been off all day but all of a sudden his back legs aren’t fully stable, there weaker than normal and he can’t jump up the sofa like he normally does i have no idea whats happened.

Hello. Sudden onset of weakness in the hind legs could be an indication of a possible instability in the back, perhaps even the beginning of a herniating disc. At nine years of age, arthritis in the back is also a possibility. Have Diesel evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Until you can have him seen, try to rest him as best you can, & do not let him try to jump up & down on the couch.
