My dog hasn't pooped in 4 days after Flagyl for diarrhea. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | neutered | 3 years and 6 months old | 65 lbs

Hi my 3 year old husky had vomiting and diarrhea, the vet have hi! Fluids and he is on Flagyl. He is eating again small portions and drinking but he has not had a bowel movement in 4 days. Should I be concerned or is this a side effect of the Flagyl?

Sometimes when they have diarrhea and haven't eaten as much it takes a few days to build up enough stool to have a proper bowel movement. If he is struggling or straining to poop then yes, I would be concerned. But if he is eating, drinking, not vomiting and acting normally, then I wouldn't be concerned. If he hasn't had a BM by tomorrow morning, I would have your vet take another look at him. I hope this helps!

It is not uncommon for a dog who has recently had diarrhea not to have a bowel movement for several days after the diarrhea resolves. As long as he is not straining to go to the bathroom and is acting fine otherwise I would not be concerned. If he hasn't had a bowel movement in 5 days, is straining or acting sick he should be seen
