My indoor cat has fleas and licked spots. Is it a flea allergy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Bobtail Shorthair | Female | spayed | 12 years and 8 months old | 6 lbs

We've recently discovered that our indoor kitties have fleas. Not many fleas...but a few... One of them has licked two spots in her fur...see photos. Am I correct in believing that these spots are due to flea bite allergy?

Yes, this looks like a flea allergy. Even if your cats are indoors only they still need monthly flea prevention. If they are indoor/outdoor they definitely need monthly flea prevention. Now that you know the fleas are in your house you also need to treat the house. I suggest this product: ( https://www.allivet.com/p-1389-knockout-es-area-treatment.aspx )
