My cat is scared after a flood and won't eat or use the litter box.

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | neutered | 4 years and 5 months old | 14 lbs

Hi. Since yesterday after a sink accident in kitchen and some flood my cat avoid the house and stay only in balcony. He refuse to eat, drink or use litter box. Im concerned for him. I tried to pet him , talk to him but he is scared and i can feel his heart beating fast. What can I do ?

It sounds like the flood and/or all the noise from it may have startled Kent. If you have a bedroom or room that is away from it all and that is safe and dry to stay in, I would keep Kent in there with his food, water, litter, etc and give him a few days to settle back in and relax. Once he is calm again, you can then start introducing him to more of the house. If you suspect he is ill or got into something during the flooding, bringing him to a vet to rule out health issues is best.
