What does it mean if my cat's gums are pink and he won't eat his food?

Hi! I noticed my cat gums are salmon pink around the gum line and he’s not eating his food what does this mean. Pet's info: Cat | American Longhair | Male | neutered | 3 years and 11 months old | 20 lbs

It's possible the pink coloration is gingivitis or it could also indicate an infection. The not eating could be related to dental pain but it could also be related to something else.
