My cat smells like poop, leg hurts after fight. Was he bitten?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | 4 years and 6 months old | 21 lbs

I heard cat fight noises just now & got him in. I did not see other animal. He seems ok but smells. The bottom underneath of right back leg smells like poop. I wiped with wet paper towel & getting a brown poop smelling dirt off him. There was also 2 small brown diarrhea spots on his under belly, same smell. He does not like back leg touched . Not sure if it hurts him or not. There is no blood. No red. His anus is clean & no smell I worried. What is this? Was he bitten? Pic attached.

If Snoops does not like his back leg touched, that tells me he is in pain. I would suspect he may have been bitten, but I would have to examine him in person to be sure. I think he should see a vet now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
