My bird is losing face feathers on one side. Is it diet or illness?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Lovebird | Male | 0.1 lbs

So my bird Karu has lost feathers on his face. But it’s only one side, and I don’t know if it’s because he’s scratching too much in that spot. So, I just need to know if it’s diet problems or what?

Thanks for reaching out about Karu and including photos. Dietary deficiencies probably don't result in local feather scratching. Concerns would be around a sinus infection, viral disease, or metabolic disorders. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Try placing cage in steamy bathroom for 10-15 minutes. Monitor to sneezing or other concerns. Good luck.
