What is the black spot or hole near my dog's penis? Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 lbs

My dog has what looks to be a hole near the tip of his penis, with something hard and black in it. I have no idea what this could possibly be and I'm freaking out. He is approx. 8 years old and is a bichon-frise poodle mix.

I don't think you need to freak out about it. It does not look concerning. It may just be a plugged hair follicle or a small cyst. I suggest you use these medicated pads on the affected area once or twice a day. If after a week or so, if there is no improvement, then he should see your vet. If you are worried you can always have him examined now. There is no harm in that. ( https://www.allivet.com/p-5393-douxo-chlorhexidine-3-ps-pads-for-dogs-and-cats-30.aspx?SearchTerm=duoxo+Auto )
