Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | 10 months and 6 days old | 5 lbs
We are dog sitting and the 11 month old and has diarrhea. It also still pees when it gets excited. Otherwise the dog seems fine. Should we take her to a vet?

It depends on how long Tara has had diarrhea. If it's been less than 24 hours, you can try the following home remedy. Withhold food for 12 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. If it's been longer than 24 hours, yes take her into the vet. I hope this helps!

Poor Misty! Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck.

The rock could be the cause of the diarrhea, but there's nothing you can do to help it pass. It will either pass or it won't. You can try a home remedy to see if it helps with Leia's diarrhea.

Poor Leia. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that works. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she refuses to eat the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.
