My senior chihuahua is crying, not eating, and I can't afford vet.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 4.8 lbs

I have a chihuahua who is about 10 years old. She recently started crying (sounds like a baby), hasn't been eating her food but is drinking water. 2 days ago she was eating a little bit of grass. She's a bit warm, but I gave her a soothing bath. What should I do? I've been told to take her in, but I don't have the money.

I agree, you need to take her in for an exam. You can't let her suffer due to financial constraints. You need to find a way to get her help. I suggest you contact this hospital in your area to see if they can help you. Looks like the exam is free and they have affordable services. I am worried that she may have a pyometra (uterine infection) since she is not spayed. If this is the case, she will die without treatment.
