Why is my dachshund yelping in pain around his shoulder sometimes?

Yesterday my standard dachshund yelped several time in pain. Once when I went to stroke home and twice when he got excited. It seems to be around his right shoulder. But he doesn't limp or seem in pain seconds later. Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | neutered | 6 years and 11 months old | 14 lbs

Poor Oscar. Back problems are common in Dachshunds, and he could have something going on with his back around the shoulder causing him pain. I'd keep an eye on him for now, and if this behavior keeps happening, have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.
