Dr. Melanie, I’m worried about Mia! She’s been SUPER clingy to me but I love it. She’s been sitting down a lot when Asher is around as if she’s uncomfortable around him. He wants to play with her and keeps whining because all she wants to do is sleep. Today I noticed her nipples were swollen . Usually Mia is bouncing off of the walls. Maybe she’s just tired?? :( I also keep finding red spots but don’t see her bleeding actively? Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | spayed | 8 months and 12 days old | 25 lbs

Hello Mariah! If you are finding red spots, Mia is likely in heat. The heavy bleeding doesn’t happen at the beginning of the heat. The swollen nopples indicate she is in heat as well. Her behavior does sound normal for a dog in heat :-)
