Why won't my stray kitten eat but drinks a lot with an open wound?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

A stray kitten came to my house a day ago, he was meowing so hard as if he wanted me to notice him. I tried feeding him and he ate really well (I fed him dry food) and also drank a lot of water. I notice that he has an open wound that seems to be new, I'm not sure what's the cause but could probably be cat fight. This morning I fed him at 7.30 and he ate a lot, but I've been trying to feed him again and he won't eat, it's 16:00 now when I'm writing and he still won't eat, but he drinks a lot.

It may simply be a case of him not being hungry, especially if he is stray and hasn't been getting much food. However, I would be concerned about this open wound you mention. It could be infected or causing pain. Ideally I would take him to s vet for an exam and treatment, given the circumstances you may be able to attend a charity clinic.
