Hi. Poor Twinkie. Unfortunately from this photo it is too hard to tell. I would be worried about a possible anal go and abscess, but I dont know from this. Please call your veterinarian for an appointment

I see what you mean about this swollen area on Xom! There are a couple of things this could be on her. She could be suffering from an infected anal sac leading to this large swelling, a perianal fistula, a rectal tumor, a rectal prolapse, or potentially an anal tumor. The only way to know for sure what is causing this swelling is to have her seen by a vet. I would give your vet a call now to set up an appointment for her. Best of luck!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This lump could potentially be something like an abscess for example given its location. However, other things like a growth are possible. I recommend that you have Bear evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If an abscess was noted, further local therapy with drainage and antibiotics would be recommended. Good luck and best wishes!

This is hard to tell for sure by the picture but it could either be a mass or an anal gland abscess. Your vet will have to feel this area by hand to tell for sure and perhaps even poke the lump with a needle to see if it drains at all. Best case scenario is that this is just an anal gland abscess that can be drained and treated with antibiotics. I hope that your pet Bear gets some resolve soon! Best wishes at the vet. Take care. : )
