Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 13 years old
Hi. Ginger, my 13 year old cat, is having eye problems. We took him to the vet and he was given a course of antibiotics which we finished and everything cleared up. But now all of the symptoms are back, his third eyelid is showing, he has clear watery discharge, he’s squinting his eye. What do we do to help and what does he have? Please help.

Poor guy. I would recommend certainly returning to the vet for a recheck. They eye needs to be looked at closely to ensure there aren't any abnormally placed eyelashes (i.e dystichia) or any abnormalities to the 3rd eyelid. Another course of antibiotics can be tried, but I would also recommend consider testing Ginger for infectious disease (i.e. herpesvirus) and starting anti-viral supplements. If there is still no resolve, then I would consider referring Ginger to an ophthalmologist for further care. I hope that things can be sorted out soon with your pet Ginger. Best wishes and take care!
