My dog pooped something that looks like an intestine. Is this serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 100 lbs

It looks like my dog pooped out his large intestin. Is this possible? There was no blood and he’s acting completely normal.

That is really odd! Without significant trauma, it isn't possible to defecate out the intestines. Rectal prolapse is possible, but unless they chew it off, it should stay attached. It is more likely to be something that Rocky ingested that came out undigested. If he starts acting lethargic, painful, has difficulty defecating, etc. then he should definitely get checked out by a vet.
