Why does my boxer have a large lump on his butt? What should I do?

My boxer has a huge knot on his butt. He has not been neutered recently and it looks to be at the 4 o’clock position. What could this be? What should I do?

It may be a mass or tumor. Infection or trauma cannot be ruled out. You would need to have Creed physically examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the lump. A fine needle aspirate can be done to collect samples for pathology. This may provide a diagnosis. Once results are returned, you can discuss treatment options with your veterinarian. If Creed is licking or chewing at the area, place an e-collar (cone) on him until the issue is resolved.

    Cancer can be common in Boxers, that is true, but without seeing Boi in person, I can't say if this sore is cancerous or not. I highly recommend a vet visit in the next couple of days to have this examined, diagnosed, and treated. Best of luck.

It could be an infection, cyst, benign or cancerous mass. Have your vet take a look at it to determine the cause. Your vet can do a needle aspirate to determine if any treeatment is needed. If it is a benign lump or cyst than your vet may just have you monitor the area for changes. If it is an infection than an antibiotic will be needed. And if it looks to be a cancerous mass, your vet may recommend removal.

Hello If possible a photograph of this lump would be helpful. It could be a lipoma (a harmless fatty tumor) but Boxers are known for developing mast cell tumors on their skin. Those types of tumors need to be removed as they can cause issues with the GI tract and even anaphylactic reactions.

Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. I'd give Lilly's vet a call in the morning to make her an appointment.

This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. My Boxer has a lump under his neck and I would like to know what it could possibly be?
This lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Jj to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

I can't figures out what this is on the bottom lip of my brindle boxer
This is indeed a mass. Make a note of how big it is now and watch it for a week or two and then compare to the size it is now. If it grew, or started to ooze or bleed, it needs to be examined by your vet and possibly removed. If it is just a wart, it can remain, unless it causes trouble.

This could be a severely abscessed anal gland/sac or a tumor or a perineal hernia. This can only be diagnosed with a hands-on exam. You should have it examined by your veterinarian, as it is not possible to distinguish these by just looking at a photo. An abscess can usually be treated with antibiotics and/or be lanced, and a hernia may have to be fixed surgically. To identify a tumor, your vet may want to do a fine needle aspirate (he takes some material from the bump with a needle and then looks at it under the microscope) to determine whether the mass is concerning.

My dog has a bump on his underside that has been there for a few months now he pops it all the time and blood just pours out and it will get better but never goes away do you know what it could be and if he needs medical attention or is he causing it
I am so sorry to hear that Boxer has this concerning mass. Because you have noticed the mass over a period of a few months and because it is bleeding repeatedly I would have it seen by a veterinarian. There are many possible causes for masses in a dogs skin including foreign bodies, bacterial infections, cysts, and several types of benign and well as malignant tumours. In the meantime, place an e-collar, or cone, on Boxer to prevent him from biting or scraping the mass. This will hopefully stop him from bursting it again, as well as stop him from possibly infecting the area. Measure the mass with a ruler so you can compare its growth in a couple weeks time. Rapidly growing masses are more concerning. I hope that this answer was helpful and more importantly that Boxer feels better soon. Warmest regards to you both.

Ouch that looks uncomfortable. That looks like a mass of some sort. Rocky needs to go to the vet to have that looked at and sampled. The vet may want to do a round of antibiotics first before sampling it because it looks like it could be infected. This isn't an emergency, but I would want him to get to the vet within the week.

My dog has a strange mass on his hindend. It wasn't there before and I'm not sure if he got bit by something or if I should be concerned. It seems to be a hard mass. I marked it to keep track of it, but I'm unsure if I need to take him to the vet as
It would help to know whether this mass is next to the anus or on the thigh. If it is next to the anus, it could be an impacted or infected anal sac, Your veterinarian can easily empty that, and in case of an infection, flush it and infuse it with an antibiotic. If the mass is in muscle, for example your dog's thigh, then this should also be seen by your vet who will try to determine whether it is a cyst or abscess or a tumor. Your vet would likely do an FNA, a fine needle aspirate, where he will harvest material from the mass. This material is then examined and will help determine whether the mass is malignant or benign. I would suggest you observe it and if it is not gone by Wednesday, you take your dog to a veterinarian for an exam.
