My rabbit's friend passed away. Should I get him a new companion?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | neutered | 3 years and 8 months old

Unfortunately today we had to have Patch put down. I’m so heartbroken as I’ve lost him but I also don’t know what to do with Buddy. I’ve heard a lot about if a rabbits friend passes away they can get very lonely and depressed which I don’t want for Buddy. We were thinking about getting him another companion, I would like your opinion on what we can do? Many thanks

Sorry about Patch. Spend lots of time with Buddy to try and fill contact time. You should probably wait until ensured that Buddy is doing well, eating well. Adding a new rabbit into the scene could possibly add more stress. Good luck.
