My dog accidentally ate too much Zyrtec. What should I do right away?

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 5 years and 2 months old | 15 lbs

I accidentally gave the 15 pound mini schnauzer two 10mg Zyrtec tablets. Is there anything we should do?

You may see some increased drowsiness with this dose, but this is low enough where I would not expect any true toxicity concerns. I would also recommend contacting pet poison helpline for more specific informtaion on any toixicty concern for your pet. Best wishes with Sy and I hope that he turns out ok. Take care.

    Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She is adorable! No need to be concerned. This medication has a wide therapeutic index and even if she had 5 tablets that would be well within an acceptable range. She may be a bit drowsy perhaps for the next 6-8 hours. She should be fine.
