My cat is in pain but has no visible injuries. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

My cat is acting like he is not feeling good and in pain, if moved. He is sleeping with legs & tail all tucked under. He was laying on an outside porch chair & would only move to change position from one side to the other. I wrapped a towel around him & softly carried him inside. He wimpered like in pain. No visible injuries. Didn't like it when I tried to pet his neck or sides of body. Pulled muscle or internal problem?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Crazy Kitty. Poor boy. I'd be concerned he could be injured, and he could have internal injuries causing his pain. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. Due to this and the fact that he is in pain, I'd take him into a vet now to get treated. Best of luck.
