Dog vomiting, losing weight, not eating, and weak. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 46 lbs

My dog pit bull has lost over 15 lbs in 3 months, throws anything she eats up, including water. After many expensive visits to vet, including overnight stay, still no diagnosis. On way home threw up (yellow/green) in car. Gave tiny amt. of water. Threw it up. Refuses to eat (tried boiled chicken/plain rice) Extremely weak & shaking. I’m at a loss. Xrays done to check for foreign object & nothing. Here are her most recent blood results. Maybe you will see something they are missing. Please help!

BUN and CREA are severely elevated and the cause of it should be ideally understood by performing a urine analysis (and specifically a urine specific gravity to rule out kidney failure). Mild anemia (lower RBCs) can be present during kidney failure. Amylase is another important value as severe elevation could be compatible with pancreatitis, which can cause the signs you are describing. CPLI test can be performed as well to rule out pancreatitis. Please discuss all the options with your local vet.
