Why is my senior dog moving slow, not eating, and struggling to get up?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Cocker Spaniel | Male | neutered

My cocker spaniel is about 13-14yrs old and he moves slower and sometimes he doesn't wanna get up from his crate 2 go outside 2 take care of business. So I carry him and stand him up and then he goes and comes back 2 me and I carry him back inside. He doesn't want his food but he does drink water. Today I gave him some bread that had the bill miller's bbq sause on it and he ate it. Is he slowly dying or does he have arthritis?

Poor Pepper. It is so hard to tell you what is wrong with the moving and not eating without an exam. It could be arthritis along with something causing a decreased appetite. He needs full exam, lab work, and x-rays, and pain control to be able to answer that question. Call your veterinarian first thing in the morning and make an appointment
