My dog has a pink bubble-like bump in her armpit. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 6 years and 1 month old | 50 lbs

We have been treating my dog for skin allergies (black, dry skin on belly and under arms) for about 1-2 months and it has greatly improved. Now we have noticed a small, pink bubble-like bump on one of her armpits that has probably been there about a week or 2. It does not seem to bother her but I am curious as to what it might be or if it could be dangerous? She is a 6 year old boxer/lab mix.

Hello. This could just be a cyst or small tumor such as a histiocytoma. At this point, it does not look worrisome, so just monitor for any changes in size &/or shape. It is very unlikely to be dangerous, especially if it remains like this. Any changes though, please let your veterinarian take a look. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
