Why does my iguana have a hard lump on its side and look crooked?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Iguana | Male

I have this iguana for about a few years, i noticed he has this boney lump on his side. Its hard like a bone, but its abnormally there. The other side of his body didnt have this lump. Im worried for him. His body looked crooked. Its probably a bone disease, as far as i remember he gets daily sunlight. I would really love it if you could tell me what is happening

Thanks for reaching out about Heli and including photos. He does appear a little thin in the pictures. Not sure if this is a boney lesion as few bones at that lateral aspect. Does he eat a lot of dark leafy greens? A urinary stone or enlarged kidney would be concerns. A veterinary visit is highly recommended to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Providing warm water soaks could stimulate water intake and urination. Good luck.
