Why is my cat constantly licking her mouth and acting aggressive?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 3 years and 7 months old | 8 lbs

My cat won’t stop licking her mouth, she looks very uncomfortable and I don’t know what it could be. I try to help her and she rocks and gets very aggressive. What could be wrong with her?

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Licking the mouth could indicate a number of things. It could be that Luna has a tooth infection or sore in her mouth that is causing pain and causing her to lick around her mouth. Licking is also a sign a nausea. My advice would be to take Luna in to see her veterinarian for an exam and oral exam to check for tooth issues or other problems with her mouth. Your vet may recommend blood work and anti-nausea medications if nausea is suspected. I hope this helps!
